Until the case is well interrogated, it still looks like mystery to a lot of people in Bayelsa who got wind of the story. Though, some have attributed her action to be poverty, some people who know her too well simply said it’s sheer greed and her insatiable appetite for material things led her into that.
A 28-year-old nursing mother has been arrested by Bayelsa State Police Command, for selling her three months old baby girl for N300, 000. Spokesman of the command, Asinim Butswat, gave the name of the baby’s mother as Oyikepreye Enoch.
According to him, Enoch was arrested yesterday by men of the Akenfa Division, following a tip-off. He said: “The suspect sold her child to one Esther Tony, 30, for N300,000.”
Butswat, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, added that both suspects were undergoing interrogation at the Akenfa Police Station, Yenagoa.
