The Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards 2017 (AMVCA) may have come and gone for most people, but not for the winners who will savour the airs of victory for a long time. The spectacular event which was hosted by Nigeria’s IK Osakioduwa and Minenhle ‘Minnie’ Dlamini from South Africa lived up to expectations
As it is the norm,the awards ceremony was a celebration of outstanding achievements in television and film during 2016, as voted on by the general viewing public.
The biggest winner at the even was ’76 with 5 awards, including “Best Overall Movie”, from 14 nominations. The movie also won three of the Big Four categories; best picture, best director and best actress.
Other big winners were Oloibiri which won three awards and Vaya with two awards.
Sambasa Nzeribe, star of the movie “Slow Country,” won the best actor in Africa, ahead of Olu Jacobs, Ramsey Nouah and Richard Mofe-Damijo
